wimpy August 20, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I at least will be able to use this carrier to move one half of my 40 pound rowing shell. If you intend to approach the stated capacity of this carrier do so only on clean pavement. High clearence and light weight can be design flaws.
Flat land only August 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Works fine on flat land - impossible on an incline (heading uphill) as it kept collapsing while trying to load the canoe (14'); seems kick stand is way too short. I ended up having to use an old Helly Hansen roller to get the canoe to the flat, then the carrier was fine. In hindsight I should have gotten a sturdier model due to the circumstances.
Canoe Carrier (Hauler) August 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The canoe carrier worked great. I live around 200 yards from our lake and had to load the canoe in the back of my van to get to the water. Now I just grab the end of the canoe with one hand and walk to the lake. Loading and unloading is a snap. The only problem was, I had to improvise with the straps provided because my canoe is too wide to use the straps as instructed. Love it.
cable routing wrong July 24, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
When I received the product it was obvious the cable routing was wrong. There are no clear pictures of the cable routing and attachment and no mention of a cable in the supplied assembly, operating and safety instructions. I emailed Pacific-Cycle customer service and attached pictures. They acknowledged the cable was wrong but their reply as to how it should be routed was jibberish. The box it was shipped in was torn and damaged but luckily all the parts were still in the box.
carries the canoe load May 5, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Don't know how I did without it. Makes the haul to take-out and put-in from and to the parking areas easy. Very easy to attach and certainly rugged enough for all the terrain and surfaces I have encountered. So well is the balance it is a one hand operation to move the canoe anwhere. It is small enough when folded and the wheels are removed (that is easy) to take on board in case you need to portage while enroute. My wife use to do 50% of the hauling on our canoe trips and now is free to smell the flowers and supervise. She really likes this carrier. Easily worth the reasonable price.
