1 out of 5 stars connector part breaking will drive you nuts !!!   October 31, 2008
I got two w/ our new pool & spa 2 years ago. Pump works well, but the plastic nipple breaks/cracks all the time, and it's hard to find these online. The pool cover company charges me about $10 each time. Totally sucks ... recommend buying another brand (Little Giant, ???) until these guys fix this crummy part & offer it easier/cheaper.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Darn Good!   September 30, 2008
This pump works good, nor problems. It got all the water off my pool and very well. It wasn't as fast as it was described, but still very fast. Much better than that piece of crap I used last year that took weeks to get all the water off. I strongly suggest this product.

5 out of 5 stars Quality Product!!   September 16, 2008
This product came perfectly and quickly, as advertised. We had over 10" of rain within a day and this pump performed quite efficiently!

5 out of 5 stars Good purchase   July 31, 2008
This pump does a great job of keeping the water level down on our pool cover. The fact that it has an automatic off/on feature takes the worry out of when to have the pump in place. It arrived very quickly which was important since our other one was non-functional.

2 out of 5 stars not water proof...   July 20, 2008

We got the pump last year with the installation of our pool and initially it did clear the water off the top of the pool cover quite effectively. Lately, it hasn't been starting - even when freshly plugged in. I took the top off and discovered that there was water in the compartment containing the unit's circuit board. That's probably the root cause of the pump failure. In my humble opinion, the pump's electronics enclosure could have been better designed.

I would smply replaced the unit with one from a different manufacturer but there doesn't seem to be much choice in this regard. Having read another reviewer state his was being replaced by Rule, I got to thinking I'll wait until Monday to call their customer service department to see if the repair/replacement is covered by warranty. (The pump was given to us by the pool cover supplier. Since I didn't purchase it outright, I don't have warranty info)

Until it stopped working, I was pleased with the Rule 1800.

Practical tip: Be aware there's a little screen that needs to be cleaned out periodically to keep the debris from blocking water flow. No tools required for this, just remember it when the pump sounds like it's working but no water flows...

Good luck.
