Simple-to-use bindings, sturdy, lightweight frames and aluminum crampons enable female hikers to get out in winter and enjoy the growing sport of snowshoeing. Tubbs was the first manufacturer to offer snowshoes designed specifically for women, introducing women's specific bindings in 1998. Anatomic and ergonomic adjustments are made to each binding to provide the female snowshoe enthusiast with the fit, comfort and performance she deserves. Accounting for the fact that, on average, women have a shorter walking stride than men, Tubbs has tapered the tail on women's specific models to be 15% narrower than the tails found on men's snowshoes, allowing female users to maintain a more natural stride. Xplore Women's snowshoes are available in two sizes. Measuring 8a x 21a each, Xplore Women's-21 snowshoes are suitable for a total weight (user and gear) of 80-150 pounds. At 8" x 25" per shoe, Xplore Women's-25 snowshoes are suitable for a total weight (user and gear) of 120-200 pounds. Comfort and maneuverability are key elements of winter performance and Tubbs tackles both concerns with the design of the bindings used in their snowshoes. Xplore snowshoes utilize the easy-to-use Tubbs Quick Fit Binding. Rigid Control Wings found on both the medial and lateral sides of the binding keep your boot centered in the harness for maximum responsiveness. Rotating flexibility in the integrated toe cord allows your boot to pivot independently of the frame of the Xplore snowshoe, maximizing the penetration of the crampon in the snow base. The rotation also enables the tail to drop away from the binding as you hike, effectively shedding snow, reducing resistance and minimizing the fatigue associated with carrying the unnecessary weight of clinging snow.
