| Customer Reviews: LOVE the Stearns Puddle Jumper July 29, 2010 J. B. Neveu (Oswego, NY USA) We found this item in Walmart and bought one to try it out. We went back & got 2 more because we loved them so much and wanted to have them available when our 3-year-old daughter had friends over to visit. They are perfect for little ones who want to be independent but don't know how to swim yet. Our daughter hates to get her face & head wet, especially unexpectedly, and this keeps her head high and dry while allowing her to SAFELY go all over the pool (all of which is over her head at her current height). She can paddle around and climb in & out of the pool completely on her own (supervised at all times of course). We even have her wear it when she's just outside near the pool just in case she were to accidentally fall in. This device would bob her back up the the surface of the water in no time flat, significantly decreasing the chance of her being under water a dangerous length of time before we could get to her. I absolutely LOVE this type of flotation device for the swimming pool or beach. She & her friends don't mind wearing it at all.
Oh my gosh! April 14, 2010 Cookie's Mom (NC) So I read the reviews of everyone else and since they were so good, I figured I'd take a crack at this "life vest" It's AWESOME. I tried it on my daughter at home and she thought it was fun. But it kept slipping off her arms (granted, she wasn't in the water) so I was a little worried if this would really work. Since the moment she got in the pool with it on, she was a fish IN water! She loved it to the point of pushing us away. She didn't want mom or dad to hold on to her. She was Miss Independent. These modern "water wings" truly do give the child much more confidence to be on their own and she really did enjoy it. She even started to kick on her own and use her arms to crawl. This purchase has been one of my all time favorites.
Learn to swim! September 21, 2009 Yvonne Iverson Jock (Newark, DE) This makes floaties so last century!! The puddle jumper gives little ones the ability to keep their head above water yet allows them to move their arms and learn to swim--would recommend (and have!) to anyone with kids to get them used to the water and the confidence to swim.
what a "life saver" August 9, 2009 expecting...again (Glen Allen, VA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered this vest for our very active, 30lb., 22 month old son for a recent vacation to Hilton Head Island. You could literally fall out the sliding doors into the pool and take the walk way to the sand. Our little one is VERY fast, and my fear was that he would get out to the pool before someone could grab him. (5 adults, 6 children all under 6years) I was right, and this vest made all the difference.
We decided to "test it" out on our first morning there. Dad in the water waiting to grab him, and I just hip checked him into the pool. He was able to right himself, and frog kick over to the side while letting us know how insulted he was. Obviously, we did not leave him unattended in the water, but wanted to know if he fell in would he really be face out of the water.
He loved it! By the end of vacation he was taking himself down the steps of the pool, and swimming with the other children. Currently expecting (7months at time of review), this vest has made a huge difference in our summer. I am able to take him to our local pool with his sisters without having to hold him upright. He likes how independent he can be regarding getting in/out and just holding my hand. I love not having to pick him up all the time.
If I could kiss the person who invented this vest, I would!!!!!
