Product Description
TheSwiMP3.1G is a waterproof mp3 player created with a unique innovative sound transfer technology that offers exceptional underwater sound clarity. The completely redesigned waterproof MP3 player utilizes bone-conduction technology to transmit high-fidelity sound underneath the water.

Standard players rely on the transmission of sound through air or water which causes the swimmer to perceive only muffled noise. Because the SwiMP3 uses bone conduction, the sound vibrations are able to be directly transferred from the cheek bone to the inner ear, giving the swimmer the ultimate sensory experience.

    Features and Benefits:
  • Patented Bone-Conduction Technology: Directly vibrates the inner ear to create the highest quality of music underwater.
  • New Sleek Design with Strap Clip: Allows unit to be attached easily to any swim goggle or snorkeling mask.
  • Integrated MP3 Panel: Incorporates On/Off, Volume, Next/Previous Track, Pause, and Shuffle functions
  • 8-Hour Rechargeable Battery: Lithium-ion battery charges directly from a USB port for plenty of continuous high-fidelity music
  • Windows and MAC Compatible: Easily drag and drop any MP3 or WMA files directly on to the device
  • Expanded 1GB of Storage: Allows for approximately 240 songs to be stored
    General SwiMP3.1G System Requirements:
  • Windows 98SE, 2000, ME, XP, VISTA -- Mac OS 9, OS X or higher
  • Intel Pentium II 233 Mhz or equivalent
  • 256 MB Ram
  • 35 MB available hard drive space
  • USB port

Ideal for swimmers, triathletes, surfers, synchronized swimmers, and anyone else involved in general water activities, the Finis SwiMP3 1G waterproof MP3 player allows you to listen to music underwater. Unlike standard waterproof MP3 players--which transmit sound through the air or water and produce only a muffled noise when submerged--the SwiMP3 1G relies on your bones to conduct the sound. This direct transfer of sound vibrations from the cheekbone to the inner ear produces exceptional sound clarity, so you can listen to all of your favorite tunes while working out or taking a leisurely swim.

The SwiMP3 1G attaches to your swim goggles or snorkeling mask.
The SwiMP3 1G also shines from a music standpoint, with 1GB of memory and support for both MP3 and WMA files. Listeners have a basic selection of controls, including volume, shuffle, and resume, with an MP3 control panel built into the side panel. And when you're ready to swim, the player attaches easily to your swim goggle or snorkeling mask. Other details include a rechargeable battery that lasts for up to 8 hours per charge, a built-in USB plug that inserts directly into your computer (no cable required), and a lightweight housing that weighs only 2 ounces. Designed to hold approximately 240 songs, the SwiMP3 1G is compatible with Windows 98 SE, 2000, Me, and XP and Mac OS 9.x and 10.x.

Features:

  • Patented Bone-Conduction Technology: Directly vibrates the inner ear to create the highest quality of music underwater

4 out of 5 stars Works really well   March 10, 2010
W. Turner (whittier, ca)
I used my SwiMP3 player for the 1st time today, and it works amazingly well in the water... it turns the inside of my skull into an amphitheater! Be aware that button-press duration is a key to working the device; if it's not doing what you think it should, try holding the button(s) down until it does. Also, the clips look like they might be a weak point--the included case is just large enough for goggles as well, so you might not want to clip/unclip it more than absolutely necessary.

4 out of 5 stars End your swimming bordom!   March 8, 2010
Gettin Skinny Swimmer (MARION, IN, US)
I have recently taken up swimming for weight loss. I am an average swimmer that has become very bored swimming. I read just about all of the reviews on water proof MP3 and decided on Finis SwiMP3. The price was competitive with the rest of the units. The other product reviews swayed me to buy this, because it was not a bulky unit, was designed for swimming, and it had no earphones to worry about. When I first got it it took about 10 times for my computer to reconize the USB connection. If Finis's enginnering dept would fix this, then it would have gotten 5 stars. Please fix this. After my computer finally reconized it loading songs was easy! The other draw back is the unit has no bass. It sounds like an AM radio under water. The technology is almost there! I would recommend this to any swimmer looking to extend there time in the water.

4 out of 5 stars Great--now we need an iPod dongle   March 6, 2010
Christopher B. Shay (Celebration, FL, USA)
Others have also pointed out the flaws: fragile-looking cord between the earphones, when they say "compatible with iTunes" they mean "this product is not compatible with iTunes most of the time".
That being said, if you download music from Amazon instead(:-), or save your CDs to iTunes in mp3, you can indeed simply drag-and-drop them into the memory of this great music player. Out of the water, so-so, but in the water, compared to earplug-style swimming music players--fantastic! And something that does indeed keep you swimming for several laps more until the song finishes...
What really needs to be added is, I think, some kind of waterproof connect-o-container that includes an electronic component in the form of a dongle to override the internal mp3 player, and allow people with iPods to connect their tunes up to these headphones directly, strap the iPod to their arm or waist, and go for a swim with the option of changing songs or playlists using a graphic interface. Beyond that, for what they charge, they could also offer some kind of way (silicon? waterproof miracle clay?) to mold the business ends of this device more closely to the shape of one's cheeks.

4 out of 5 stars Decent player but some problems   March 6, 2010
Neil A. Rodrigues (Chicago)
I bought this player a couple of months ago. It works well mostly, though the controls are a bit hard to use especially since volume and prev / next options use the same buttons. the biggest problem i faced so far is water leakage into the unit through the USB connector. this causes the battery to discharge very quickly. On the brighter side, at least the unit hasnt failed.

5 out of 5 stars I love this mp3 player   March 3, 2010
J. linhardt (Edmonds Wa)
This is my 2nd one I bought. I thought I had lost the 1st one and found it...now I have 2...I love it...I had trouble with it and sent it back and the company sent me a new one. I have actually never used this one....I swim 5 times a week and use it every time I swim....I have been using it for a year.....best gift for myself......Enjoy
