Not sure if it's a good idea or not.... August 1, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
First off for anyone who does not read the item's description PLEASE note: *****THIS IS NOT A LIFE JACKET*****
Ok that said (no I knew what I was buying, I just want to make sure that others do as well) this is really good for making children comfortable in the water with it on. They are able to paddle themselves around the pool with a little assistance at first (children are very top-heavy and toddlers' heads will tend to pull themselves over into the water) and then independently.
I dock it a star for two reasons: one, I thought it would be more like the old foam belts they used at the Y - you could gradually use less foam blocks as the child becomes a better swimmer and needs less help. Not so, it tells you do not remove any of the foam blocks when the child is using it. Two, for my daughter, it only allieviated her fear of facing the water on her own with the vest on, it became a security blanket. Now at 6, she can touch bottom in many pools but still whines and tries to throw a temper tantrum about going in a pool without it.
better than plastic ones August 1, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
good value, floats well, very visible. My 4 year old son wears this in the ocean, easy to zip, soft material, just great
This is great November 29, 2007 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
My 4 year old does not know how to swim. We took this on vacation and by the end of the week he was holding his breath, diving off the side of the pool and we even experimented without the vest. This vest gave him the right amount of bouyancy and confidence in the pool. I highly recommend it.
